The dealer is a terrible idea for a tight budget. I drove mine 260 miles when my transmission started having issues so I could take it to another state to a transmission specialist that is actually competent enough to diagnose issues and repair them without just replacing it all together. Chain shops tend to want to replace everything instead of actually just fixing the issue and mechanics, even if they're good, wouldn't feel comfortable working on them because that isn't what they do. Their dealer might not be a scam but the labor rate you pay at the dealer is pretty much a scam.įind a real transmission specialist. Please don't take it to Ford as someone else suggests.
